Michael Markham, owner of Big Mikes BBQ decided to follow his dreams of smoking and serving barbecue and started his portable restaurant and catering business in the Fall of 2011. Although he is very happy with his current rubs, sauces, meats and cooking processes, Michael continues to tweak and try to produce the perfect product in all of the smoked meats categories. From Eastern NC Style Pulled Pork to Smoked Beef Brisket and Sausage, Michael plans to offer a wide selection of smoked meats and tasty sides to accommodate his local demand for better barbecue.
When we asked Michael why he got into the BBQ business, he responded "I got tired of complaining about all of our local restaurants attempting to bring BBQ to the public. Not being the type to criticize without action, I jumped in the game. Cooking and entertaining have always been joys of mine. Now I can finally look forward to making some money doing what I love."

Above is a picture of my son and I. He was born August 27, 2010 and has made his mother and I the luckiest parents in the world. Seeing his beautiful smiles and hearing his innocent giggles are what made me decide to take the leap and follow my dreams of dedicating my life to helping others and using my God given talent creating some great BBQ. I am truly blessed to have the encouragement of my wonderful wife and I give her full credit for supporting me as I follow my dreams and push to create a happier and healthier home to raise our child.
